• Define density as mass per unit volume: ρ = m/V
• Recall and use the equation ρ = m/V to calculate density, mass or volume
• State the SI unit of density (kg/m³) and the alternative unit g/cm³; convert between them
• Describe how to determine the density of a regular solid using a ruler and balance
• Describe how to determine the density of an irregular solid using the displacement method (measuring cylinder or eureka can)
• Describe how to determine the density of a liquid using a measuring cylinder and balance
• Predict whether an object will float or sink based on its density relative to the liquid
